The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation is happy to share the good news that we’ve received a South King County Fund Environmental Grant again in 2022 for over $15k from the Port of Seattle! Our 501c3 organization has partnered with the City of Normandy Park’s Park Department to collaborate on a reforestation project in Marine View Park in fall 2022 and the Port has granted us funds to contribute towards that project.
We’re hosting monthly invasive species removal and tree planting volunteer events. Our reforestation events will include enriching, hands-on educational learning designed for children. Families from across the greater Highline area are encouraged to attend to learn more about planting, soil, native plants, the environment and more. Interpretors will be provided for families to create an inclusive learning environment. When complete, over 200 trees and shrubs will be planted in Marine View Park!
We’re excited to be the grant recipients and we’re hopeful for a fantastic turn-out at our volunteer events. Please consider joining in on the fun! Planting a tree can be an incredibly memorable and satisfying way to enjoy the parks, and more importantly support the environment and our community. It’s a great way to volunteer that it will benefit the air and forest!

Display this heart in your window to let the world know your heart is with them during this pandemic. A local mom heard about an effort in the Midwest to display hearts in windows to show support for medical personnel fighting to help COVID-19 victims. Her son and daughter-in-law work in a local ER. She worries about them every day, but knows they are fighting for others and she is thankful.
Please join us in showing support for them and others who are fighting to stop this pandemic and keep us safe.
Come visit us at the Cove Music & Arts Festival series on Friday night (for the next three weekends 10/04, 10/11, & 10/18). We’ll be selling wine and proceeds will benefit our foundation. We’re happy to answer questions about the Friends of Normandy Park Foundation, and you can sign up to volunteer with us, or donate to support us. 💚
This series is brought to you by the City of Normandy Park Art Commission and hosted at the Cove, Normandy Park Community Club.
We had a great time at Fall Frolic this past weekend on Saturday September 28th at Marvista Park. Thank you to everyone who came to visit our booth and participated in the raffle. Thank you also to our pumpkin sponsor Matvey Foundation Repair, Pea Patch gardener Rob Rencher, the Des Moines Area Food Bank, QFC, Starbucks and the City of Normandy Park (Parks Department)! 🎃🌻 The pumpkins were so much fun to decorate!
On a sunny Saturday morning, May 18, three boys and eleven girls settled into the Community Room in the Normandy Park city hall to spend a few hours learning new skills. CPR Seattle provided an instructor to prepare the youngsters to learn about the ins and outs of babysitting through its Babysitter Training Class and Certification.
The day included practice with partners and lots of time for questions and gaining knowledge about childcare as a neighborhood babysitter, and a delicious lunch. Diapers and toddler mannequins are among the props used to get detailed ideas across to the students. Students learned basics for infant choking and basic steps of CPR.
After a successful day of learning, the children in the class got an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) certificate that assured parents who are future clients that the babysitter from this class has learned about child and babysitting safety from a certified instructor. Children also learned to write a resume to help them build their skills for getting possible babysitting clients.
It is planned to have training sessions in the future for those girls and boys who want to spend some of their time doing something helpful for the adults and children in their neighborhood plus hone skills that demonstrate responsibility and earn some money too!
